The Recreation Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 2 Community Centres, 70 acres of parkland and playground equipment, Thamesford Library, Embro Town Hall, and Harrington Community Hall.  The Recreation Department also provides support for the Zorra Recreation Advisory Committee.

The Zorra Recreation Advisory Committee (ZRAC) is a group that meets eight to ten times per year to review and provide public comments on the general recreation program of the Township of Zorra.  The committee is comprised of 8 Zorra residents, 2 Township Councillors, the Mayor, the Recreation & Facilities Manager, and one Township administrative staff member.  Click here for more information.

Thamesford Pool Application for Trillium Grant Approved!!

New Recreation and Facilities Manager for Zorra
The Township of Zorra is pleased to announce that Trevor Sanderson has accepted the position of Recreation and Facilities Manager.  Trevor is currently the Facility Operations Manager at the RBC Centre in Sarnia where he is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the the 4,100 seat  main arena and the smaller community rink.  Trevor also worked at the Western Fair Sport Centre in London in various capacities over a seven year period.  Trevor started his new position on Monday, October 17, 2011.  Click here to read Trevor's biography.





  
Special Occasion Permits  

Special Occasion Permits (SOP) are for the sale and service of beverage alcohol at special occasions such as weddings, charity fundraisers, receptions etc. Special Occasion Permits are issued through select Liquor Control Board of Ontario ("LCBO") stores throughout the province."  

PLEASE NOTE: As of June 1, 2011, for outdoor events, the permit holder must at least 30 days prior to the event, write to the local municipality, police, and fire and health departments informing them of the event. The building department must be notified as well if a tent or marquee is used.

Municipal Alcohol Policy

A revised Municipal Alcohol Policy was approved by Council at the regular Council meeting held on May 1, 2012.  This policy took effect immediately.  Click here to review the new policy for Zorra Township.
News Release - July 19, 2011

The Council of the Township of Zorra adopted recommendations contained in a Recreation Department Organization and Operational Review that will see a change in structure of the Department.  The purpose of the Review was to determine if the present organizational structure of the Recreation Department was efficient and if operational improvements could be achieved in order to build a better, more efficient and effective Department.
