The Recreation Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 2 Community Centres, 70 acres of parkland and playground equipment, Thamesford Library, Embro Town Hall, and Harrington Community Hall.  The Recreation Department also provides support for the Zorra Recreation Advisory Committee.

Rental rates for various recreation facilities, including ice, parks, and halls, are available here.

2017 brings a new soccer field to the grounds at the Embro-Zorra Community Centre.  Estimated dimensions of the new field can be viewed here.

The Zorra Recreation Advisory Committee (ZRAC)

ZRAC is a group that meets eight to ten times per year to review and provide public comments on the general recreation program of the Township of Zorra.  The committee is comprised of 8 Zorra residents, 2 Township Councillors, the Mayor, the Recreation & Facilities Manager, and one Township administrative staff member.  Visit the ZRAC page of our website for more information.

March 21, 2016 - The Township of Zorra is pleased to announce that Stephanie Starchuck has commenced work as the Township’s Recreation Program Coordinator.   Stephanie previously worked as Event Manager at Budweiser Gardens and was employed by Global Spectrum.  Stephanie has a diploma in Sports Administration & Physical Education from Mount Royal College in Calgary.  She was raised in Thamesford and has resided there full-time for the past 10 years, which makes her very familiar with our municipality.

In her new role, Stephanie will be responsible for the design, development and monitoring of community programming in the recreation/leisure field as well as the operation of recreation services including administration and development of programs to enhance the quality of life for our residents. This position will oversee services and programs at Township recreation facilities including the arenas, pool, parks, playgrounds and open spaces.  Stephanie will also be Township’s liaison for user groups.
