Zorra Township is a rural municipality located at the north-west corner of Oxford County.  The Township is comprised of several rural clusters and two serviced villages.  The population of Zorra Township is 8,058, with a total land area of 529 square kilometres.

Recreation Department - Seeking Public Input

In 2014 the Recreation Department, along with the Zorra Recreation Advisory Committee, discussed licensing Township facilities for the sale of alcohol at weddings, buck and does, and various other events.  Township Council have asked for the public to review the documents and provide comment.  Please email any comments to Lisa Teeple by March 10, 2015.  View Recreation Manager Comments here.  View Draft Alcohol Licensing Policy here.  Send an email to Lisa Teeple.

New Public Skating Times at Embro Arena

Embro arena now offers skating for parents & tots on Wednesdays & Fridays from 10-11am, followed by an adult skate from 11am-12pm.   There is also weekend prime-time ice available for rent at Embro arena.  Public skating every Sunday from 2-3pm.  Public skating will also be offered on Family Day from 2-3pm and March Break Sunday through Friday 2-3pm.  Call 519-475-6061 for details.

Public skating is also available at Thamesford arena through the week of March 23rd.  Sundays from 2-3pm.  Parent/tot skate Tuesdays from 9:30-10:30am, adult skate Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30am.

News Release - Interim Control By-law Passed

Zorra Township Council approves moratorium on new or expanded gravel pits and quarries. One-year study period will allow Council to seek answers on cumulative impacts of aggregate industry on residents. Visit the Interim Control page of our website for more information.

New steps towards a smoke-free Ontario

Starting January 1, 2015, it will be illegal to:
• smoke on bar and restaurant patios
• sell tobacco on college and university campuses
• smoke near children’s playgrounds and public sports fields and surfaces.

Winter Parking Restrictions

Winter parking restrictions are now in effect.  No parking on any street from 1am to 8am.  Set fine is $50.00.

2014 Oxford Stewardship Award

Congratulations to 2014 Oxford Steward Dawn Dennison for her voluntary efforts to help protect the quality of Oxford’s soil, water and air. Zorra residents Ryan and Jayne Green were candidates on the short-list for this award as well.  View full details at Oxford County website.
