Welcome to the Township of Zorra

2010 Municipal Election

As a result of the passage of Bill 212 - The Good Government Act, which received Royal Assent on December 15th, 2009, Voting Day for the 2010 Municipal Election has been changed to the forth Monday in October - Monday October 25, 2010.

Candidate Nomination Period

The Nomination and Campaign Period commences on January 4, 2010.

The term of office will be December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2014.

The Township of Zorra is comprised of the following elected positions:

  • Mayor (at-large)
  • Councillor, Ward 1
  • Councillor, Ward 2
  • Councillor, Ward 3
  • Councillor, Ward 4

Nominations are to be filed with the Clerk or designated Election Official at the Municipal Office, in person or through an agent from January 4, 2010 to September 9, 2010 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  On Nomination Day, September 10, 2010, the prescribed filing time is 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Nominations must be on the prescribed form (Form 1) and accompanied by the prescribed fee.  The filing fee is $200 for the office of the Mayor and $100 for all other offices.  The prescribed fee is payable by cash, certified cheque or money order.  Credit cards or non certified cheques will not be accepted.

Also, candidates will be required to provide photo-identification when submitting their nomination forms.

8/2/2010 Tri-Axle Dump Truck Tender
The Township of Zorra is requesting tenders to supply a truck with combination dump & spreader body, lift axle, snowplow equipment and ball hich G.V.W. 88,000 lbs. with diesel engine. Tender must be submitted no later than 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010. Tender document attached.

11/1/2010 Dog Tag Collectors
The Township is looking to hire dog tag collectors on a temporary basis during April and May to issue dog tags for 2010. Collectors will be required to go door to door to issue tags. Remuneration is $5.00 per tag issued. You must have your own vehicle and the ability to keep accurate records of all calls and monies collected. Resumes will be accepted until March 16, 2010. Mail applications to our office, or fax to 519-485-2520 (attn: Kelly Hall) or email directly to Kelly at khall@zorra.on.ca.
